Gabriel Diniz and the reality of neck injuries

Gabriel Diniz

We all know there’s risk in what we do. While it’s nice to think that severe injury doesn’t happen, at the end of the day it’s a reality of training and competition. One of the most publicized lately (a video is circulating) has been the neck injury fifteen year old Gabriel Diniz after being stacked at a BJJ competition on August 4th. Gabriel has lost the use of his arms and legs. He’s gradually regaining some mobility, but has a very long road ahead of him. He tells globoesporte.globo.com: ” I can’t wait to get back to training. I ask the staff to continue praying for my recovery. God willing everything will work out.”
